These pictures were taken on December 8th, 2009 at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, Mission, Texas. I love taking pictures of small insects. Many of them, to me, look prehistoric, especially when you take a picture of a small bug and blow it up so that you can see more detail. Some people think they are creepy. I just think they're very interesting. When Praying Mantis' mate, the male has to be very careful because if the female gets the chance, she will bite the males head off. I guess you could say that lots of males lose their head of sex. LOL.

American White Pelican
These pictures were taken on December 27th, 2009 at the Edinburg Wetlands, Texas. I particularly like the shot of them lined up to have their picture taken. Double click on the image to see a more detailed view. Just about every bird is doing something different.

Great Kiskadee
This picture was taken on December 21, 2009 at the Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park, Mission, Texas. It's hard to catch a Kiskadee displaying his crest like this guy is, but once in a while a person gets lucky.

Imature Grasshopper
This picture was taken on December 8th 2009 at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, Mission Texas. I'm almost positive that it's an imature grasshopper but if you think it's something else, let me know.

Kestral
This picture was taken on December 6th, 2009 just outside Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort, Mission Texas. I don't really care for pictures of birds sitting on wires, but if that's where they're normally seen I guess that's what I'm going to get.

Ruby Throated Hummingbird, male
These pictures were actually taken back on May 22nd, 2008 in our back yard. There was a problem with the original post so I had to delete it and re-post. Oh well, they're nice shots and maybe deserve a second look.

Common Mellana Skipper
This picture was taken on November 29th, 2009 at the NABA Butterfly Park, Mission Texas. The butterfly to the left is a Southern Broken-dash Skipper. There's also a bug in the picture but I have no idea what it is.

Bordered Patch
These pictures were taken on November 29th, 2009 at NABA Butterfly Park, Missioon Texas. I just love the first picture. To me the pose is very artistic. I think I just got lucky on this one.

BUTTERFLY PHOTOGRAPHY 101
I've had many people ask me how I manage to produce such beautiful pictures of butterflies. I feel I have a lot left to learn, but I don't mind sharing the techniques that I use. Also, if you're a photo enthusiast, please add comments that you feel might be helpful.
