Bobcat

These pictures were taken on 4th February, 2008, just east of the Bentsen Rio Grande State Park, Texas. As can be seen, he's in terrible condition. He has many burns and it appears that he was caught in a sugar cane fire the previous week. It's common practice for farmers to burn the field to remove the husks, but they light all four sides at once, so if an animal was in the field, it would be in great danger. These pictures plus others were given to State Park authorities so that a mercy mission could take place to save this rare Bobcat and that mission is now underway. As well, Border patrol people spotted this same Bobcat yesterday, 10th February, so the good news is, he's still alive.
