Great Blue Heron

These pictures were taken on January 2nd, 2010 the the Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park, Mission Texas. Note the difference in coloring of the two pictures. The bottom picture was taken looking into the sun with an ISO=400, f8 at 1/1250 of a second. I then managed to work my way around the bird and shot with the sun behind me. Note how the top picture is much warmer because I had early morning sun directly behind me. The top picture was taken with ISO=400, f16 at 1/250 of a second. I was using a Canon 40D body with a 100-400mm lens.
