Monarch Butterfly

These pictures were taken on November 16th, 2008 at the NABA Butterfly Park, Mission Tx. Monarch are probably the most common and well know butterfly and are known throughout much of the world, including New Zealand, Australia and parts of Europe. They lay their eggs on milkweed plants which is actually a form of protection for them as it makes them distasteful to predators. They're large and beautiful and look similar to Viceroy's, Queen's and Soldiers.
